I have been in practice since 1983 and have been with PACE/Northern Lights Pediatrics since 2001. I am very interested in helping families with behavior and discipline issues. The best part of being a pediatrician is being able to watch children grow up. It is very rewarding to see some of my patients come back with their children.

My husband and I have two sons. I enjoy swimming, gardening,
and reading.

I am board certified in pediatrics and have practiced general pediatrics with pediatric groups in St. Louis, MO and Memphis, TN before moving to the Twin Cities in 1992 when I joined this practice.

I am married to John Schwerkoske, MD, an Oncologist/Hematologist with Minnesota Oncology/Hematology. We have three sons.

I have been with PACE Pediatrics/Northern Lights Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine since January 2001. My special interests have been allergies and asthma. I also enjoy being a part of the education process for families as they raise their children and adolescents.

My husband and I have two sons and a daughter. We enjoy golfing, boating, gardening in the summer, and ice skating in the winter.





James Marquardt

Dr. Marquardt joined Northern Lights Pediatrics in October of 2006. He spent two years working in Nicaragua and is fluent in conversational and medical Spanish.

I started in general Pediatrics in 1984 and since 1990 have practiced in the Northeast Metro area. I joined Northern Lights in 2006. I am most interested in child development, behavior and academic achievement as well as complementary and alternative medicine.

My wife is also a provider of health care and we have one teenage son. I like sailing, backpacking, hockey, gardening and playing the flute.

I hope the world may be different years from now because we were important in the life of a child.

I started in general Pediatrics in 2005, joining Northern Lights Pediatrics in January of 2008.
My special interests include allergy, asthma, caring for newborns, adolescents, children with special needs and behavior issues.

I am married with 2 children. My hobbies include gardening and being outdoors, reading and traveling.





Patti Breen
MA, CPNP

Patti Breen , MA, CPNP

Patti received her BS in nursing from Augsburg College and a master's degree from the College of St. Catherine. She has practiced for 37 years--in Appalachia, Ecuador and in Minnesota. She has been involved in community health for many years. In addition to her work at Northern Lights Pediatrics, Patti is an adjunct professor of nursing at St. Catherine University.

Areas of Special Interest: All aspects of pediatrics--newborns
to adolescents--with a special focus in asthma care and parenting.
