Recall roundup:
Deadly children's products

Despite recalls and warnings, consumers continue to use products that could cause serious injury or death. The following items are especially hazardous to children:

  • old cribs that can entrap, strangle or suffocate children;
  • hood and neck drawstrings on kids' jackets and sweatshirts that can get caught and strangle children;
  • old window blinds with pull cords and inner cords that can form a loop and cause strangulation; and
  • disposable and novelty lighters - especially those that are not child-resistant.

To receive the current list of dangerous products by mail, send a postcard to Recall Round-Up List, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Washington, D.C. 20207. Register to receive announcements of all recalls at www.cpsc.gov/cpsclist.asp.
